We are looking for a dynamic store manager and assistant manager for a new and exciting pop-up shop concept, showcasing the diversity and quality of the No & Low Alcohol drinks category. 

More than 50% of the UK adult population are actively trying to moderate their alcohol consumption – because they want to get more out of life. They are looking for exciting drinks alternatives that provide an equivalent experience to traditional drinks. You and your team will be their guides! 

You do not need to be teetotal for this role, but you must be excited about the possibilities for alcohol-free drinks, as you will be talking about and selling products to an engaged and enthusiastic audience. 

Store Manager for Alcohol-Free Pop-up Shop in Central London.

The ideal candidate will have a background in the hospitality or drinks industry, perhaps as a bar manager, sommelier, restaurant manager or brand ambassador. Full product training will be provided, but you should be a confident communicator who enjoys tasting and talking to customers and staff about wine, cocktails, beer and non-alcoholic drinks. 

Managing product tastings will be an important element of the role. You will help customers discover new drinks that they love and gathering important feedback for the brands whose products will be listed in the store. 

A number of events will take place throughout the life of the pop-up, bringing customers and trade professionals into the store, for buying trips, education and fun. These events will be organised by Club Soda in tandem with producers and partners and the store manager and their team will play an essential hosting role.

You will manage a small team, but will be fully supported by Club Soda, the store director and a pool of drinks industry experts. We aim to make this store a place of discovery and fun for everybody including our customers, the brands and our team!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independent management of the store
  • Manage and motivate your team including assistant manager
  • Ensure customers get outstanding customer experience at all times 
  • Drive sales through customer engagement, tastings, recommendations and telling the stories of the brands in store
  • Prioritise and be efficient with your time so you can spend more time helping customers find drinks they love
  • Maintain outstanding store condition, stock levels and display standards
  • Ensure health and safety and other necessary compliances are met
  • Respond to any customer complaints and comments in a timely manner
  • Update colleagues on events, procedures and other pertinent issues
  • Sharing product knowledge with customers and with the store’s team members
  • Completing staff rotas, ensuring the right team balance for all shifts, keeping in mind customer service and financial requirements
  • Making sure items are on the shelves and displayed attractively and priced accurately
  • Opening and closing store procedures
  • Creating social media content for the shop

Knowledge & Skills Required: 

  • Experience of leading and developing a team in a fast-paced environment within retail, hospitality or a similar customer-focused industry
  • Desire to increase your drinks knowledge
  • Wine, cocktails and/or beer knowledge is preferred but not essential
  • WSET Qualification is beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent time-management, delegation and problem solving skills
  • Customer focus and excellent communication skills to provide your colleagues with feedback to help develop themselves and the store
  • The energy to support and motivate the team in busy and quiet periods
  • Basic social media skills and the desire to learn more. 

Job Specifics:

  • Job Title: Store Manager 
  • Salary: £30,000-£35,000 pro rata
  • Location: Central London near Oxford Circus
  • Contract: Temporary (approximately 12 weeks)

The Alcohol-Free Off-License will open for the 2 week run up to Christmas and throughout the month of ‘Dry January’. We would like you to join us ASAP to contribute ideas and help planning and bringing the project to life.  

  • Hours: Average 40-45 hours per week

The store will be open 7 days and 3 evenings per week. You will work 5 days with some evening shifts on rotation with an assistant manager. You will also be responsible for a small team of shop assistants. 

  • Outcome: 

By the end of the project you will have gained invaluable experience managing popups and retail. You will also be a fully fledged expert in No & Low Alcohol Drinks, which may open up a world of opportunities in this booming sector.

Our Store Director, James is a drinks consultant, specialising in the No & Low Alcohol category. He has a hospitality background, with wide experience working for some of  the best restaurant brands in London.
